Taiwan Tourist Visa Information

Tourists from Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, US, UK and a number of European countries can visit Taiwan for 30 days without a visa.

The requirements are- a passport valid for at least six months, no criminal record, and confirmed air ticket home, or air ticket for your next destination and visa for next destination if necessary.

There is no fee to be paid, have a copy of your plane ticket ready, the immigration officer probably WILL ask to see it.

You can enter Taiwan with visa exempt status at any one of the following ports- C.K.S. International Airport, Kaohsiung International Airport, Keelung Harbor, Hualien Harbor, Taichung Harbor or Kaohsiung Harbor.

If you wish to stay in Taiwan longer for 30 days, you should obtain a Visa before you enter Taiwan. It may not be possible to extend your stay longer than 30 days while you are in Taiwan.

Overstaying your visa is taken very seriously in Taiwan, be prepared for a possible interrogation by police and, or immigration. You should report to immigration to explain your situation in advance, don’t try to sort it out at the airport at the last minute, you will most likely miss your flight.

Citizens from other countries may be eligible for a Visa on Arrival- check with your travel agent.
Working Visas for Taiwan are possible if you have a sponsoring agency in Taiwan.

Due to strained relations between the two countries, it is NOT possible to obtain a Visa for China while you are Taiwan. If you want to travel from Taiwan to China you must obtain a China Visa BEFORE your enter Taiwan.
